Human Herpes Virus

Symptons:

Illness in healthy people is rare. But for people with HIV, this is the virus that causes Kaposi’s sarcoma: typically leading to skin tumours or growths in the lungs and gut.

How is it passed on?

Close body contact

Long term effects:

Those who develop Kaposi’s sarcoma may need radiotherapy, chemotherapy and, if HIV positive, anti-HIV therapy to treat the tumours.
