2) A girls' thing $uper *

Hiya! The girl thing I'm chatting about is my period. I am going through all the stages at the moment (you know, the ones that you go through before you start). Well I am not scared about having it it is just that I'm 10 and all the boys will nick my spare tampons if I take some in-to school; that's what they did to my friend. It is so embarrassing I mean why can't I be normal and have it when I am older at least 12, any way if you have some advice on the age thing, or how to keep my tampons away from the boys then please please please reply. Starting early or late is no better or worse than starting at any other time, and whenever you start, that's completely normal, because it's the time that's right for your body. Some girls will start as early as 8, and some as late as 16 - there advantages and disadvantages of starting at any time.

Ah, well you can be very cunning when it comes to hiding things. Try a pencil case, that works well, but leave it in your bag. They'll just think they're spare colouring pencils if they go through your stuff, but don't let them look in it! Or just don't let them find out that you've started, which is by far the easier option; remember, no one is likely to know unless you tell them!

Boys can be very immature - they'll hopefully grow up someday, but just take note that you're more sensible and more mature that the lot of them put together! If they find them then go with Mad's suggestion, or just tell them to come back in a few years when they've grown up. At senior school it gets easier - you keep your bags on you the whole time, and you can shove 'spares' in your locker.  Reply

Hiya! OK, it's quite simple: don't tell the boys, and den they won't have an excuse to look in your bag. But if they do start making fun of you, just remind them that if their mums didn't have periods, they wouldn't be here! Reply

Don't worry, there is no 'normal' time to start your period! Reply

Hiya. Firstly, don't worry about periods. Once you've got used to them they just seem really normal. People start their periods at all different ages, some people don't even start until they're 16. Just because you've started at a young age, doesn't mean it's not normal. Why don't you try keeping tampons in like a small make-up bag or something, and keep it at the bottom of your bag, so that people can't find them. Unfortunately, boys can be very pathetic about stuff sometimes. Reply
