Trichomonas
What is Trichomonas?
Trichomonas vaginalis is an
infection caused by a microscopic parasite found in the vagina, and urethra in
both women and men.
How is it passed on?
It is passed on through unprotected vaginal, oral or anal sex with an infected
person, possibly by
sharing sex toys, or from a mother to her baby at birth, or rarely by sharing
moist towels, washcloths, hot tubs and Jacuzzis.
Signs and symptoms
Sometimes there are no symptoms, or they are so mild they go unnoticed.

Usually
none following treatment, but it's a good idea to have another check-up to make
sure the infection is gone.
