Avoiding Sunburn

  • Wearing tons of the right sunscreen lotion and re-applying it regularly, and after getting wet.
  • Drinking plenty of water
  • Wearing light clothes
  • Using UV sunglasses and lip balm if you want.
  • Being careful – you can get sunburn during winter especially if you are somewhere snowy
  • Sit under a tree between 11 and 3
  • Slop on the cream
  •  slip on a shirt
  •  slap on the hat

Ouch - I’ve already got sunburn!

  • Cool the area by sponging with cold water.
  • Put on ‘after sun cream’ or ‘calamine lotion’. Make sure that the aftersun you use has moisturiser in it.
  • STAY IN THE SHADE.
  • Don’t pop any blisters
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Take paracetamol for the pain
  • Reorganise your plans so you’re not out in the sun.
  • If the burn’s over a very large area see a doctor.
