Problems Solved
6) Overweight Vegetarian Anon
I have been a vegetarian for 8 years, I have a very healthy diet in that I eat veg, fruit, nuts, lentils, beans, dairy products, etc..., but still am about 2 stone overweight.
I carry most of my weight on my thighs + bum. I find that I can never get full after eating. About an hour after my dinner I am starving again. And the only thing that I crave is cereal/bread. Has an other veggies had this problem? Any advice on weight loss? Reply

Exercise.
I'm vegetarian. I'm also a county cross-country and 1500m runner, and I'm pretty
skinny. Get out there and work off some of those pounds! A vegetarian diet is
meant to be able to help you to lose weight.
Try participating in a team sport such as netball, football, hockey... where you can feel needed as part of a team, lose weight, get fitter, and feel good about yourself. Sport gives you a buzz, a buzz to perform,
and to achieve. Exercise speeds up the metabolism, allowing you to eat loads
without gaining weight. Don't go mad, just make sure you do a bit each day.
Taking a bit more
exercise is what is recommended for people of all ages, especially if they
haven't got help from a doctor or dietician when planning a diet. If you already
take a lot of exercise, then it is quite likely that you are putting on a lot of
muscle, and so that is probably why you weigh more than your friends. Exercise
is the key to losing weight, and make sure that you get plenty to eat after
sport.
