Helplines do not show on your telephone bill. Most are free, and most that are not are stated otherwise.

The National Centre for Eating Disorders - This is not a charity. It has national cover which aims to treat compulsive eating, anorexia, bulimia and weight problems by means of support, prevention and training. The National Centre for Eating Disorders has professional staff giving advice to callers. They will dispatch information free of charge upon request to anyone who may be concerned with an eating disorder.

Eating Disorders Association - This is a national charity which exists to provide sufferers and their families and friends with helplines, a national network of self help groups, information about the disorder, newsletters, lists of available treatments, training courses and a professional journal. It is open to anyone and membership is available for a fee.
